"The Rift" Plot Details
Posted by SMBH on October 21st, 2013 @ 2:39 PM EST (734)
"Avatar Aang asks his friends to help him honor Yangchen's Festival -- one of the highest Air Nomad holidays, which hasn't been celebrated in over one hundred years.
But cryptic visits from the spirit of Avatar Yangchen herself lead Aang to discover a jointly owned Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom refinery -- operating on land sacred to the Airbenders! Is this the cause of the pollution Aang finds there, or is a more mysterious menace afoot?"
Very interesting! We know very little about Avatar Yangchen, so it will be nice to learn more about her.
The Rift will be released on March 5th, 2014, and can already be pre-ordered on Amazon.

The Search - Part 3 preview on Amazon Kindle
Posted by Icy_Ashford on July 31st, 2013 @ 7:12 AM EST (718)
release a few preview pages of The Search Part 3 which will be coming out on 30th October 2013 as mentioned in this post.
To keep this spoiler free, we will not name the spirit shown in the preview just in case you have not read The Search yet. The preview pages showcases Aang swimming underwater to chase after a spirit but after a failed attempt at talking to it, he gets violently thrown out of the water onto the shore where Katara and another character introduced into The Search Part 2 are waiting by the lake. After Aang is reunited with Katara, the spirit rises out of the lake and looms over the couple in an intimidating manner.
We have no idea where this scene takes place in the comic but we'll just have to wait for October to arrive to finally know about Ursa's whereabouts.
Another ATLA comic titled "The Rift"
Posted by Icy_Ashford on July 25th, 2013 @ 9:29 AM EST (716)
recently revealed that there will be another Avatar: The Last Airbender comic series titled "The Rift" which will once again be written by Gene Yang who was the writer for the previous ATLA comics "The Promise" and "The Search".
Below is a description about "The Rift":
The new trilogy shifts its focus back to Aang and the building of Republic City -- now well known to "Legend of Korra" watchers. Though it was too early in the process to talk specifics, Yang said he was looking forward to return to some of the core "Avatar" cast after spending time away in the Fire Nation for the currently running "The Search." "That story felt like a story of the Fire Nation royal family. The core relationships are Zuko, his sister and his mom. Those are the relationships we wanted to explore all the way through, so how we thought about it was, "if these are the core relationships, how do the other characters reflect what's going on there?" That's why we only touch a little bit on things like Sokka and Katara's relationship."
In particular, the writer is aiming at a larger role for his favored cast member. "What happened to me is that as I watched the show, Zuko was my favorite character, but now that I'm writing it, it's Toph. I mean, I liked Toph before, but now I love Toph," he said. "We're trying to keep the focus on the characters. We want to talk about the world in relation to the characters, so what we learn about the world will always be filtered through their eyes. Aang and Toph will be the center of this one. I missed having Toph in 'The Search!'"
Those who watch The Legend of Korra might be interested to see how Republic City was formed and possibly how Toph sets up the metalbending police system within the city? If you're intrigued, you're welcome to join us with the speculation of "The Rift" in the ASN forums.
